Hello NCS Families,

We pray that you all have had a restful and relaxing beginning to your summer break! We would like to invite everyone to our Back to School Bash, which will be held on Tuesday, August 13th. Stop by anytime between 4:00-6:00pm to meet your new teacher, pick up the rest of your paperwork, and enjoy an ice-cream social in the cafeteria with friends!  The students’ first day of school this year is Thursday, August 15th.

NCS is growing in so many positive ways! We have LOTS of exciting things coming for your students this year. First, I am excited to announce that Courtney Davis will take on the role of Principal this school year!  As the principal, she will be the face and leader of North and oversee the school's daily responsibilities.

Second, my role will now be the Administrator, and I will oversee the school's vision and carry out long-term goals that move our school forward.  I will also work more behind the scenes and be responsible for HR, budgets, finances, grants, etc.

With these changes, we want you to understand who within our administration team you should address with what topics and in what order. Your first point of contact will always be your child’s teacher. When bringing any issues or concerns to any of us, we will always ask you whether you have discussed it with your child’s teacher first. If you do not feel that your need has been met after discussing the issue/concern with your child’s teacher, below is the order in which to bring it to administration:

Principal: Courtney Davis

Administrator: Mary Brannan

Executive Pastor: John Wright

Another positive change coming this school year is that we plan on starting a monthly newsletter to send to parents/guardians that will discuss upcoming events and to keep in better communication with everyone.

Spoiler alert: Be on the lookout for information about our new school garden and outdoor classroom!

We are going to continue providing clubs after school this year! And we would appreciate any parent/guardian willing to run one of our clubs. This would be a one-day-a-week commitment, starting at 3:00pm for one to two hours, and it could be a club of your choice. Even if you cannot commit to running a club, let us know what you would like to see as an after-school club for your children. In the past, we have had LEGO, Dance, Basketball, Baseball, and Cheer. So far on the list for this year we will have Art Club, Cooking Club, and Discovery Club.

Last year we piloted a program entitled All School Specials. It was very successful, so we decided to adopt it this year! This school year, your students will participate in All School Specials from 2:15-2:45pm, Mondays-Thursdays. Each grade from kindergarten to fifth grade will travel to the following teachers for these specials:

 Character Development: April Pennell

Technology: Kasey Snyder

Spanish: Jessica Espinosa

Music: Shelia Mays

Lastly, NCS can always use good substitute teachers and aides, too!  If you know of anyone that is interested, let us know!

Have a GREAT rest of your summer!

Many Blessings,

Mary Brannan, NCS Administrator
